After School Programs

For a lot of kids, the sound of the 3:30 bell is like music to their ears. Unfortunately, for far too many of them, that sound is symbolic of the junk food they’ll be eating and the video games they’ll be playing as soon as the bus drops them off at home. At Magnitude, we offer a healthy alternative. We believe physical fitness is extremely important in children’s development. That’s why we offer a great alternative to traditional after school programs whose only focus is babysitting. We’re not a daycare, nor do we babysit children. We offer Taekwondo after school classes to Mississauga and Oakville kids with the convenience of picking them up from their schools to participate in a martial arts class. Children will benefit from exercise while learning self-defense! Before or after their Taekwondo classes, they may enjoy various activities such as arts and crafts, drawing, board games or computer games. They may also do their homework in a dedicated room.

Who attends our after school program?

We offer our after school program to Mississauga and Oakville students in grades 1 through 8. We pride ourselves on our safe and friendly atmosphere. In martial arts training, it’s extremely important everyone behaves with kindness and respect. We group Taekwondo classes by age as best we can and try to ensure there’s no inappropriate language or behaviour. We don’t tolerate any bullying or exclusion in our after school activities. Unfortunately, if children don’t adhere to our rules of respect, they’ll be asked to leave our after school program. We do our best to make sure every child has a positive experience. Magnitude is a place where friendships are made and where the staff cares for the children like they’re our own.

What type of martial arts training do we offer?

We teach Taekwondo. Every child begins at white belt and progresses through the martial arts curriculum onto higher belts. Children perform their curriculum to their parents when they advance to the next belt. Parents are often surprised by how much their children learn and accomplish during our after school programs. Although we cater to kids, we’re very serious and provide disciplined and structured martial arts training. The goal is for children to one day reach black belt!

How do children attend our after school martial arts programs?

We pick up children for our after school classes with our Magnitude busses or mini-vans and bring them to our facility, as soon as they’ve been dismissed from school.

When are after school activities scheduled?

Our after school program is offered full time, Monday to Friday. We don’t accept part-time students. Parental pick up is by 6:00pm. Registration begins in May for the following term beginning in September. Enrolment is for the school year, September until the end of June. However, acceptance may be considered throughout the school year, if space is available.

If you’re in Mississauga or Oakville, where can you find us?

We have two facilities. One location is in West Mississauga, bordering on Oakville. We service many Mississauga schools, as well as schools in the Joshua Creek area. Our other location is in North Mississauga and services schools north of Britannia from 9th line to Mississauga Road / Queen Street.

Note: Please check to see if your child’s school is eligible for pick up.

After school martial arts program fees

Tuition is paid bi-weekly every second Monday by void cheque or credit card. Tuition is halted during Christmas vacation and March break.

We offer camps during the holidays and March break, as well as eight weeks of summer camp. Registration for our camps is separate from our After School Martial Arts Program.

It’s assumed your child won’t be returning in September unless you re-register them in May.

Cost per week is $75 for one child or $65 each for two children. Cost includes transportation (if you’re in the designated areas of Mississauga or Oakville), daily snacks and martial arts classes. Extra fees apply for uniforms, gradings, sparring equipment and PD days.

New students must have a martial arts uniform that they wear only to class. Each child will have their own cubby where their uniforms are kept throughout the week. All martial arts uniforms must be taken home on Fridays to be washed and then brought back on Mondays.

Note: Fees don’t include taxes
